  • Surviving spouse must be married to the Veteran for atleast one year and at the time of Veteran's death
  • Gulf War Veteran must have lesser of two years or period of time they were called for active duty
  • Wartimes are defined as:
    World War II: December 7, 1941 - December 31, 1946
    Korean Conflict: June 27, 1950 - January 31, 1955
    Vietnam Era: August 5, 1964 - May 7, 1975
    or served in the country of Vietnam February 28, 1961 - August 5, 1964
    Gulf War: August 2, 1990 - to be determined
  • This may mean that they may have a chronic condition like Dementia, CHF etc and/or need assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, meal prep, etc
  • This includes things like bank balance, pensions, stocks but doesn't include primary residence and car
